Primavera Sound Barcelona did not drip-feed its 25th edition. On 5 October the festival published a single poster of 151 artists and bands for 2 to 6 June 2027 at the Parc del Fòrum, opened a registration form the same day, ran a 24-hour Fan Sale on 8 October and put full festival tickets on general sale through Fever on 9 October. While most of the European summer is still naming a first headliner, Barcelona has shown its hand and started collecting.

What was announced

The festival's announcement sets the main days for 3 to 5 June, with a free opening day on Wednesday 2 June and the closing electronic party, Primavera Bits, on Sunday 6 June. Bits is headed by Richie Hawtin, Four Tet and Dixon, in what the festival describes as the first time the three have come together anywhere, for eight hours of alternating sets.

The names the festival leads with are Doechii (billed as her debut in Spain), Phoebe Bridgers, Fontaines D.C., Massive Attack, Turnstile, The Chemical Brothers, Robyn, FKA twigs, Bad Gyal and Hayley Williams. According to the same text, Massive Attack are making their festival debut and The Chemical Brothers have never played Primavera Sound before.

Below them sit Lola Young, Pavement, Caroline Polachek, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Bleachers, Underworld, a closing b2b set from Skrillex and Ninajirachi, and ANOHNI performing songs by Lou Reed. The deeper lines are where the booking shows its hand: Vashti Bunyan, who the festival says is 81 and has barely given a dozen performances in the last decade; Bradford Cox reviving Atlas Sound after seven years largely out of public view; and Bonnie "Prince" Billy, visiting the Parc del Fòrum for the first time.

The Fader and Catalan News covered the announcement the same day, The Fader with the same dates and the same count of 151.

A festival that sells to its regulars first

The festival's own numbers explain the confidence. In its report on the 2026 edition, published in July and based on a study by the data firm Camaleonic Analytics, Primavera Sound counted 287,000 attendees from 145 countries, said the event sold out, and put the share of people attending for at least the second time at 69 per cent, with an average age of 32. An audience that is roughly seven in ten returning does not need to be courted with a slow reveal. It needs dates and a price.

The price structure is built around that audience. People who registered before 23:59 CEST on 7 October could buy the general full festival ticket in the Fan Sale for €295 plus booking fees. General sale opened at €350 plus distribution fees. The VIP ticket was €545 in both windows. The €55 gap on the general ticket is, in effect, what the festival charges for not already being in its database.

Two more discounts sit on top. Revolut, a strategic partner, offers its clients €20 off and held the Fan Sale price open for them until 11:00 CEST on 10 October. Residents of the Barcelona metropolitan area can claim 10 per cent off through AccessTicket, and the ticket information page specifies that only a municipal register certificate is accepted as proof.

As of 13 October that page lists the full festival ticket "from €350" and the VIP ticket "from €545", both on sale. One caveat for buyers: a line of text on the same page gives general sale prices of €360 and €560, so the figure at checkout is the one to trust.

What the poster says about the circuit

First, scale. The festival notes that its first edition in 2001 was a single-day event with about a dozen acts, and the 2027 poster carries that year's logo. The 151 names are a floor, not a ceiling: the 2026 report counted 307 artists and bands, and the announcement says a complementary programme in venues around the city is "yet to be revealed".

Second, the gender split is treated as settled practice, not a campaign. The announcement states: "Women are undeniably leading the way in a line-up where the gender breakdown is once again balanced." For 2026 the festival published the figures: 42 per cent women, 41 per cent men, 16 per cent mixed-gender projects and 1 per cent non-binary artists. It has not yet published an equivalent breakdown for 2027.

Third, an anniversary booked forwards. A 25th edition could have been assembled from the festival's own history. Instead the top line leans on acts the festival says are new to it (Doechii in Spain, Massive Attack, The Chemical Brothers), and the history sits lower down, with Pavement, Dinosaur Jr. and Cox. The headliners sell the ticket to newcomers; the small print is written for the 69 per cent.

The industry side moves with it. Primavera Pro holds its 18th edition from 2 to 5 June at a new venue, the DHub, with accreditations on general sale from €390 plus fees.

What to watch

  • Day splits and day tickets. As of 13 October the festival sells only full festival tickets, and the announcement assigns no act to a day apart from Primavera Bits on 6 June.
  • The city programme. The festival says the week-long complementary programme is still to be revealed. Its ticket FAQ says those activities are included in the ticket but subject to conditions and capacity limits.
  • Primavera Pro, 2 to 5 June 2027. The conference and showcase programme is promised "shortly".
  • 2 June 2027. The free opening day at the Parc del Fòrum, followed by the main days on 3, 4 and 5 June and Primavera Bits on 6 June.
  • 10 to 13 June 2027. Primavera Sound Porto, listed on the festival's site for the Parque da Cidade the following week.
  • The 2027 gender breakdown. Whether the published figure matches the 2026 split once the full week is announced.
