Three months on, the 2026 edition of Tomorrowland looks like the year the festival proved it could stand still on purpose. It ran over two weekends, 17 to 19 July and 24 to 26 July, at the De Schorre provincial park in Boom, in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The headline number did not move: 400,000 people from more than 200 countries, a total that Pollstar described as "in line with past Tomorrowland editions".

Everything around that number did move. The livestream audience, the hotel nights in Brussels, the passenger count on the partner airline and the list of countries where the brand now stages a festival all point the same way. Boom is a fixed-size flagship. The growth is happening on screens and abroad.

A year after the fire

The edition carried a weight the previous one had left behind. Two days before the 2025 festival began, its main stage was completely destroyed by fire, as The Brussels Times and the Belga agency recalled on opening day this year. According to the same report, organisers overhauled their fire safety arrangements in the following twelve months, an independent safety commission approved the festival, emergency exit signage was improved and more firefighters were deployed. The report also noted that the 2026 main stage was still built from wood and expanded polystyrene.

That stage was the centrepiece of the edition's theme, "Consciencia", built around six emotions across 16 stages. Bandwagon reported it as the festival's largest Mainstage to date, over 43 metres tall and 140 metres wide, with more than 500 artists performing across the grounds.

The weather tested the new caution straight away. Because of drought, the authorities banned fireworks during the first weekend, and granted only a partial authorisation for the second, according to a Belga report published by La Libre. A festival known for pyrotechnics spent half its run without them.

The verdict from the organisers was relief. "No major incident occurred and the line-up was not reshuffled. So we are satisfied," spokesperson Debby Wilmsen told Belga, in our translation from the French. The mayor of Boom, Jeroen Baert, called it "a very calm edition, without a hitch". The agency counted it as the 20th edition, with 200,000 people on each sold-out weekend and about 38,000 staying at the festival campsite.

The balance sheet the police keep

"Calm" has a specific meaning at an event this size, and the Antwerp public prosecutor publishes the other ledger. Over the two weekends, 403 festivalgoers were caught with drugs for personal use and offered an immediate out-of-court settlement, which raised 104,100 euros, VRT NWS reported. They lost their wristbands and were removed from the site. Thirty-two people were arrested for dealing and summoned to a Tomorrowland-themed court hearing on 25 November. Fourteen pickpockets were caught in the act.

Seized substances were tested on site in a mobile laboratory run by the National Institute for Forensic Science and Criminology. The institute noted that the results did not always match what users had told the police, VRT reported.

Where the growth is

On site, the programme delivered what the brand trades on. Calvin Harris made his Tomorrowland Belgium debut and closed the Mainstage on both Saturdays, according to Bandwagon, and Martin Garrix closed the festival on the final Sunday, according to Belga.

The record came from elsewhere. Tomorrowland's livestream reached 233 million views across YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and other platforms, up from 193 million the year before, according to a press release from the promoters cited by Pollstar. That is a rise of about a fifth in a year when the gate did not grow at all.

The economic footprint also sits outside Boom. The Brussels Hotel Association estimated that festivalgoers accounted for 60,000 hotel overnight stays in the capital, a figure comparable to the previous three editions, VRT NWS reported. The festival's travel package lists 43 partner hotels in Brussels against 12 in Antwerp. Brussels Airlines was carrying some 25,000 festivalgoers from 106 countries on 409 flights, over 10,000 more than for the 2024 edition, according to the same report.

And the theme travels. Belga reported that "Consciencia" continues at the brand's events in Thailand in December and in Brazil in spring 2027. The Thai edition is the bigger step: Mixmag Asia reported dates of 11 to 13 December 2026 at Wisdom Valley in Pattaya, an expected attendance of more than 50,000 people a day, and a Thai government commitment to the festival through at least 2030.

Put together, the 2026 edition reads as a template. Hold the Belgian original at its limit, make it run without drama, and let the audience grow where there is no fence.

What to watch

  • 25 November 2026. The Tomorrowland-themed court hearing for the 32 people arrested for dealing at the festival, as announced by the Antwerp public prosecutor's office.
  • 11 to 13 December 2026. Tomorrowland Thailand's first edition in Pattaya. Compare the reported expectation of more than 50,000 people a day with what the organisers announce afterwards.
  • 30 April to 2 May 2027. Tomorrowland Brasil, at Parque Maeda, on the dates reported by Indie Hoy, under the same "Consciencia" theme.
  • Belgium 2027. No dates for next summer appear in the sources consulted for this piece. When they come, the things to check are whether the two-weekend format and the 400,000 total hold.
  • The next livestream figure. 233 million is the number to beat, and the clearest measure of where this festival's audience now lives.
